Dowry system
I still can't get over a statement made by a Muslim man in a more "conservative" part of India while my friend was visiting.
"Her dad will have to pay more (dowry) because she is dark," male neighbor to everyone else in the room.
My friend: "She is sitting right here"
neighbor: "Ya she knows that too" reference to a TWELVE year old girl or should I say child!
Wasn't the Prophet s.a.w sent to this world as a Rahma? Did he not come to abolish all these jahiliyah customs? Then why do we still have such people in our ummah? Isn't Islam suppose to be about the inner beauty?
This post is a forced post for people asking me to update the blog.....
Sorry I don't think I can put my thoughts together and say all I want to say right now. Mind's too occupied with other randomness...

"randomness", "ranting": words I encounter the most on blogs. People, tht's what blogs are for. Don't apologize for it. It's expected... you're not writing an article for the newspaper, or an essay for class.
Be random! That's what we're spozed to be. If someone isn't random, they're usually called "creepy".
:0)
[ofcourse, now I should expect a comment from Saman, somewhere along the lines of: 'get ur own blog!']
lemme save saman the trouble:
GET YOUR OWN BLOG!
(we have ur best interests in mind :) )
saman- is it really a surprise? disgusting yes, but i wasnt very surprised when i heard it...uve been to india, you know how it is, as wud any brown person. "white is beautiful", its as if were ashamed of our own race...
:(
Mehreen I'm going to make you a blog!
Seriously I am...
As monazzah said we have ur best interest in mind (and ours)
Monazzah it's not a surprise that "fair" skin is suppose to be pretty but the disgusting part is: PAY MORE FOR HER???
Is she an object waiting to be sold? or even worse not sold but a yucky dark thing to get rid off? such a burden that the seller has to pay extra to get rid of her!!
I'm sure that really boosts her and other girl's confidence, self respect, dignity etc..
heyy! i was COMMENTING on ur post. ok, so not on the core of the issue, but at least on some obscure bit of it.
tsk. now get goin w/ ur homework on saira's blog.
bytheway, the issue, i don't think should be one of dark or fair, although it is terrible for the poor girl to hear it. But the issue is about dowry at all. In pak, the guy's side asks how much dowry will be given, and may even say no to the marriage if the dowry's not enough.
Now that I think about it, I just DON'T understand the rationale behind the dowry. How does anyone justify this? If the parents wanna give their girl a wedding gift, it's up to them. If they don't, tayb, they don't. Anyone wanna explain?
ha ha ha ha ha
as if posting a comment here is gonna accurately reflect my persepective on the issue!
*sigh* in person girls, in person, this way u can hear me SHOUT my point of view
:D
salaam salaam
Alhamdulillah!
Winter fast approaches meaning that the Sun shall be in hiding and I shall be beautiful!

i reeeeaallly think u shud start hanging out on the BROTHER'S blogs!
I'll link you to some brother's blogs and you'll see how boring they are:
Saturday, March 23
I went and shot a ball. It was good. I like playing ball. I wish I could play ball all the time. School sucks. Girls are weird. Food is good. I've noticed that you desire food more in Ramadan, what's up with that!?!
And so on :).
hahaha.... c'mon i've read some of murtada's blog... it's quite insightful (well...that's one brother at least)
I don't have time for blogs :|.
Instead, I simply go and pester other people's blogs :D.
There shall not be anyone above me. I am my own teacher!
